Top Twos-Day: Typical Bedfellows

There’s a new kid in cybertown: Bookish, the consumer oriented book site, “Bookish taps the expertise of authors, their editors and their publishers to find you the best reads.” Move over Goodreads, this star is rising with support from the combined effort of Hachette Book Group, Penguin Group (USA) and Simon & Schuster. Or is it all hype to boost sales of their collective products? Hmmmm…

Speaking of boosts, the pending civil action against Standard and Poors  by the US government is still getting the runaround from parent company McGraw-Hill, whose stock fell today with the announcement. The $5 million action alleges egregious conduct from S & P suggesting that the, “inflated ratings and understated risks associated with mortgage securities,” was fraud, according to Reuters. Oh what a tangled web they weave…

    This makes me want to jump on a bed and forget about Standard and Poors and McGraw-Hill.

    Bookish is new to me – looks interesting
    McGraw-Hill – (shaking head) what can I say….those little fingers are in so many pies.
