Top Twos-day: music to my ears

Each Tuesday I’ll bring two items or people into focus. They may be books, authors, lists, whatever turned my head, landing on my radar. Stay tuned as each TOP TWOS-DAY unfolds

Rick Moody’s On Celestial Music: And Other Adventures in Listening released March 2012 from Back Bay Books (under giant Hachette Publishing Group’s umbrella is Little, Brown, who begat this trade paperback imprint). This thirteen essay collection is reflective of Moody’s battle with alcohol, love of riffs and dedication to writing. A must-read for those who meld writing and music into daily momentary pleasure fixes. Read an excerpt.

Over at the Poetry Foundation, give a listen to Looking Animals in the Eye podcast. This collection of poems, in sync with National Poetry Month, highlights talents Yusef Komunyakaa, V. Penelope Pelizzon, Kathy Nilsson, and Anthony Madird. They also offer an extensive archival collection. Poetry Magazine can be heard or read, sign up for their monthly podcasts or e-newsletter.
