Top Twos-Day: e-book math: for every positive there is a negative

Livrada, a Los Angeles based start-up, is partnering with Target offering gifts cards for e-book versions of six bestsellers from Random House and HarperCollins. The cards are part of a pilot program with hopes of expanding in the coming months and are redeemable on both Kindle and Nook devices. Read more…

More e-book news: so far so free…tax-free that is. Most of the states are not charging sales tax for e-book versions, but the discussion is far from over. Taxing of digital content is on the rise, and e-books will eventually fall; paperback and trade sellers will likely find this a friendly gesture from Uncle Sam. Check SmartMoney’s list to see if your state is one of those currently taxing digital content.
